Auto Claim: Report the accident to the police and obtain a copy of the report.

Get the names, phone numbers and addresses of the:

• Occupants of the other car
• Anyone that was injured
• Witnesses

Make no comment to any other party except for the police and the representative of your insurance company. You may be entirely blameless and can be supported by witnesses.

Property Claim: The most important first step is to make the property safe as soon as possible.

Take the necessary steps to prevent further damage and make the property safe; this could be making temporary repairs, removing or fixing the cause of the loss, beginning the cleanup of materials that could cause additional loss.
